It’s taken 26 years, but the wait is just about over for Grand Island-area Jeep fans. The all-new Jeep Gladiator pickup truck is expected to arrive soon in the showroom here at Midway Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, and we couldn’t be more excited. Discover all that this new Jeep pickup truck has to offer. Then, take the drive from Grand Island to our dealership in Kearney, NE to learn more.

Design

The Gladiator looks a lot like the Jeep Wrangler. Like the Wrangler, the Jeep Gladiator truck offers characteristic Jeep safety. But the Gladiator is unique in its segment: it’s the first truck to have a removable top since the Dodge Dakota convertible hit Lexington streets in 1991.

Beyond its removable top, the windshield and doors are also removable. The Jeep Gladiator truck is about 31 inches longer than the JL Wrangler Unlimited, and it will be equipped with axles, brakes, and suspension that will be exclusive to the model. The 33-inch tires will also be unique for this Jeep truck.

The Gladiator features a 5-foot steel bed with under-rail bed lighting, and a lockable tailgate. A spray-in bedliner; a 400-watt/115-volt power outlet; and the Jeep Trail Rail cargo management system are all available options. A bed divider and tonneau cover are also available.

Interior

The interior of the new Gladiator will basically match that of the Wrangler, but the backseat will feature:

  • 60/40 split folding rear seat
  • Lockable storage compartments in the rear wall
  • Floor storage bins
  • Best-in-class rear legroom

Among the standard interior features you’ll find a 5-inch touchscreen, 2 USB ports, and one USB-C port. There are also two USB ports available for rear seat passengers. Options include a 7-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen, Uconnect 4, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and satellite radio. A premium audio system with detachable wireless speaker is also an available option.

Performance and Capabilities

This Jeep truck will live up to the Gladiator name by delivering the kind of capable performance that can meet just about any challenge.

  • Engine: 3.6L Pentastar V6
  • Horsepower: 285 hp
  • Torque: 260 lb-ft
  • Max. Payload Capacity: 1,650 lbs
  • Max. Towing Capacity: 7,650 lbs

You’ll have the choice between an 8-speed automatic transmission or al 6-speed manual transmission. A 3.0L turbo EcoDiesel V6 engine that produces 260 hp with 442 lb-ft of torque will also be available.

Off-Road Option

The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon models will come standard with features to enhance your off-road experience in and around Hastings. These off-road features include:

  • Fox aluminum-bodied 2-inch diameter shocks
  • Disconnecting front sway bar
  • 4:1 low range transfer case ratio
